Bradford turns city centre into open-air nightclub

A CITY council is hoping to get citizens dancing in the streets when it turns a Yorkshire urban park into an open air ‘night club’.

Bradford’s City Park, an open space with water features next to City Hall, will get four stages, a sound system and lighting as part of a new Urban Festival on Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18.

A council spokesman said the result would be “360 degrees of pure electro-jazz bliss”.

French electro-jazz master, Cie Jo Bithume’s band will play upbeat jazz over original electronic backing tracks. There will be brass musicians and club dancers.

The Urban Festival kicks off with a “spontaneous street performance” at 8.30pm on Wednesday May 15.
