Brick thrown through train window

a BRICK was thrown at a train outside Castleford station – narrowly missing a passenger’s face.

It went through an open window, narrowly missing a passenger sitting on the service.

The incident took place on Saturday, September 3, at 4.30pm as the 3.50pm Sheffield to Castleford service was waiting to approach the platform.

PC Berni Grogan, the investigating officer, said: “Four youths were seen passing by the side of the train, which was approaching Castleford station, when one of the youths – a boy thought to be around 14 years old – picked up a brick and launched it at the train.”

Officers are conducting local inquiries into the incident and are keen to speak to anyone who may have any information.

PC Grogan added: “This was a near miss and if the brick was thrown inches closer, it caused have hospitalised the woman. We are eager to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”

The teenager is described as white, 5ft 7in, of medium build. He was wearing a grey hooded top and was with one other boy and two girls.
