BRITISH tennis hopeful Andy Murray bowed to welcome the Queen to Wimbledon as the monarch paid her first visit to the tournament in 33 years.

Her Majesty applauded as the Scot swept through to the third round with an emphatic straight sets win against Jarkko Nieminen.

The Queen, wearing a turquoise outfit with matching hat and silver brooch, met a host of star players and shook hands with ball girls and boys.

The epic match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut finally came to an end after 11 hours and five minutes – the longest game ever played.

Both men fought back tears after the American 23rd seed Isner eventually won through to a standing ovation from a packed Court 18 with an incredible 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, 70-68 scoreline.

Mahut said: "We played the greatest match ever at the greatest place to play tennis." Isner insisted he was not feeling tired.

"This crowd was fantastic."
