Briton to be extradited over killing

A BRITISH businessman is to be extradited to France to face trial over the killing of his millionairess girlfriend.

Ian Griffin, 41, was arrested on June 1 last year after the body of his girlfriend Kinga Legg was found battered and bruised in the bathroom of a suite at the 1,000-a-night Hotel Le Bristol in Paris.

District Judge Daphne Wickham ordered his extradition at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court yesterday despite Griffin attempting suicide on November 18 by taking an overdose.

Griffin did not appear at his extradition hearing yesterday because he was being treated at St George's Hospital in Tooting, south London, for kidney problems.

His lawyer, Matthew Butt, asked for the case to be adjourned but District Judge Wickham dismissed the appeal.
