Broken rail causes chaos for Leeds commuters

COMMUTERS faced a nightmare journey into work today after a broken rail caused cancellations and delays on one of the busiest train routes into Leeds.

Network Rail blamed "emergency maintenance" for the problems on the Leeds to Skipton line, which saw trains replaced by buses between Skipton and Keighley.

Many commuters arrived at work more than an hour late, with train bosses predicting it would be at least lunchtime before services were restored.

Services to Bradford and beyond Skipton to the Dales and Lake District were also affected.
