Brother’s quest to solve war hero riddle finally over

BOMBING of Berlin by the British was its height getween November 1943 and March 1944.

The military campaign had been launched by Arthur “Bomber” Harris, air officer commanding RAF Bomber Command in November 1943. He believed the raids would hit Germans’ resolve hard.

During those six months of intensive action, the RAF lost 1,047 aircraft and more than 7,000 aircrew.

Research by Terry Sullivan’s son, Gary Sullivan, has found Sgt Eric Sullivan was killed overnight December 2/3 1943 on a night when Berlin was the main target.

Sgt Sullivan was flying in one of the 425 Lancasters that took part in the raid, together with 18 Mosquitos and other aircraft.
