Budget cuts put gardens revamp on hold

A £120,000 revamp of facilities in Harrogate's iconic Valley Gardens has been put on hold as a result of budget cuts by central Government.

It was planned for councillors to agree on the new parks pavilion and toilets – part of a large-scale plan to upgrade the park – next month.

But despite the delay the leader of Harrogate Council, Mike Gardener, says he is confident the upgrade will still happen.

Coun Gardener added: "It has been put on hold until we have a clearer picture over our financial situation but it is our plan and we

are still hopeful that we will be continuing with it.

"Valley Gardens already has some of the best facilities in the region and is an invaluable asset to the town.

"We are committed to ensuring it stays that way."
