Burglars break sleeping man’s leg in horror attack

A MAN was woken up by robbers who used a hammer to smash his leg and then tied his wife to the bed.

The 43-year-old was asleep when he was hit by intruders at about 3am on Wednesday at his house on the ring road at Moortown, Leeds.

He sustained a suspected broken leg.

Police said he was threatened by three men who demanded cash and jewellery and then tied his wife, 34, to the bed.

Property including Middle East-style jewellery and up to £3,000 in cash was taken.

Two children in the house, aged six and four, were not affected by the incident.

All three suspects are thought to be white and spoke with Yorkshire accents. They were dressed in black clothes and wore balaclavas.

The victim has undergone surgery for his leg injuries.
