A householder was stabbed in the arm and leg during a terrifying ordeal at the hands of burglars at his large detached home in North Yorkshire, police have revealed.
The raid happened about 10pm on Thursday when three burglars armed with knives targeted a home on Lands Lane, Knaresborough.
A man, 48, suffered serious stab wounds and remains in hospital. His partner, 32, was not hurt but was left shocked.
Jewellery with a substantial value was stolen.
Detective Inspector Nichola Holden said: “I would like to reassure the public that every effort is being made to identify the people responsible for this incident and bring them to justice.”
It is believed two of the suspects were black. A third, who was white, was about 5ft 5ins. They may have escaped in a white BMW which was seen speeding through the town after the raid.
