BRAZEN burglars spent two almost two hours stripping items from a DIY superstore during a raid in the early hours of Tuesday, police revealed yesterday.
Detectives said they were keen to hear from anyone who may have been offered cut-price decking, sheds and fencing after the burglary which took place at the Worksop branch of Wickes, on Sandy Lane. It is believed that two men cut through the fence at the store at around 12.30am on February, 14, finally leaving at around 2.20am.
A police spokesman said: “Although CCTV evidence does not give a clear image of either offender, it does confirm that they were on the scene for almost two hours.
“During that time they removed sheds, decking and meshing and piled it next to the hole they had made in the fence, which backs on to a neighbouring car showroom.
“We suspect they then passed the items through the fence to land housing garages at the rear of Sandy Lane, between the car showroom and Grafton Street.”
