Burials are cheaper in Yorkshire

The cost of burying someone varies by more than £1,000 across the country with Yorkshire one of the cheapest places.

Lichfield in Staffordshire is the most expensive place in England for an interment at 1,270, compared with the 50 charged for a burial in Blaby, Leicestershire,

according to Avalon Funeral Plans.

Elmbridge in Surrey is the second most expensive place in which to bury a loved one in a council-run cemetery at 1,138, followed by Lewisham, south London, where it costs 1,082, the City of London at 992 and Rushmoor in Hampshire at 968.

At the other end of the scale, it costs just 93 for an internment in Wyre in Lancashire while burying someone costs 129 in Hambleton, North Yorkshire.
