A LORRY was sent flying off a motorway bridge in Yorkshire after one of its tyres burst.
Police were called in yesterday afternoon after the incident on the M18 South, at Rawcliffe Bridge. The road was closed for several hours
Police said the vehicle, carrying a load of fertiliser, slid across the road after the tyre burst, then plunged over the bridge and caught fire.
The 61-year-old driver was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary and treated for cuts, bruises and a dislocated shoulder.
Police closed the M62 Westbound to the M18 while emergency services recovered the vehicle.
