Business chiefs 'risking enterprise body'

A COUNCIL leader claims business leaders may scupper the chances of any Local Enterprise Partnership being set up in the Humber when development agency Yorkshire Forward is abolished. Hull City Council leader Carl Minns spoke out after 50 business leaders wrote to Ministers urging them to back a single partnership for the Humber rather than his plan for an alliance by authorities on the north bank.

LEPs are intended by the Government to boost economies instead of regional development agencies.

Coun Minns insisted he sees no value in the bid for a Humber-wide partnership, which is backed by North Lincolnshire Council – and claimed Ministers may be tempted to reject all bids if the differences cannot be resolved.
