An investigation is underway after a man was rescued from a flat fire in Rotherham in the early hours of this morning while a derelict health centre was ablaze in Barnsley.

Firefighters called to the blaze in Hague Avenue, Rawmarsh, said the man was rescued before they arrived. He was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. The cause of the blaze is not yet known and an investigation is underway.

And in Barnsley crews were called twice to a the former health centre in the village of Grimethorpe throughout yesterday and last night.
