Call me a cab - I'm playing Pokemon Go

An advert for the taxi service on the Gumtree website offers to take passengers to and from their door while exploring Leeds for the different types of Pokemon.

The unnamed driver promises travel in his Ford Ranger at slow speed “for comfort and relaxation” so players of the flavour-of-the-month mobile app can score maximum points.

The advert, signed ‘Tom’, reads: “I am offering a chauffeur service for Pokemon Go in Leeds - West Yorkshire.

“You will be driven around in a brand new Ford Ranger for comfort and relaxation while catching all the Pokemon you can possibly find.

“Choice of countless Spotify tracks and my charming wit - you can’t go wrong. £15/HOUR.”

It added: “It also read: “We will drive around at egg incubation speed so that you still get credit towards hatching your eggs.

“You have a choice of travelling where you want in the Leeds City area or take one of my pre-constructed routes.

“I can pick you up and drop you off at your house- or we can meet in Leeds.

“Explore all of Leeds to find different kinds of Pokemon.”

Pokemon Go has taken the online gaming world by storm since its release date earlier this week.

The game involves a virtual world where gamers walk actual miles to find hidden cartoon ‘Pokemon’ characters by capturing them on their mobile phone camera.

Pokemon Go has reignited fans love for the Pokemon series where the hit card game and TV series left off.

But the RAC warned the growth of the app means there is “yet another reason” for motorists to concentrate on their smartphones instead of the road in front of them.

RAC road safety spokesman Pete Williams said: “The Pokemon Go revolution could take the illegal use of hand-held mobile phones at the wheel to another level.

“This feels like a whole new level of gaming addiction and yet another reason for people to be glued to their smartphones instead of looking where they are going.”
