In 2007 she was nominated for a council award for her dedication in helping older people and for setting up the charitable trust Neighbourly Care Bradford (NCB).

Councillor Jeanette Sunderland, who represents the Idle and Thackley ward, said: “Audrey did what it said on the tin. She was somebody who was true to her political beliefs; she held them strong and if she disagreed with you she told you. She did not have a lot of time for politicians. If she did not like what you were doing you had a battle on your hands and it was great to see. There will be a hole where Audrey was.”
