THE great granddaughter of suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst joined thousands of women and men as they campaigned for equality outside the Houses of Parliament.

Dr Helen Pankhurst was among those lobbying for politicians to end violence against women and girls and to drive forward women’s equality.

She said: “Lobbying Parliament today is as urgent and vital as it has ever been.

“Politicians and other leaders can and must do more to tackle the serious injustices against women that persist – and the human rights violations that they contribute to – and that continue to thwart our potential as a society.”
