Cancer nurses to attend conference

SEVENTY nurses from across Yorkshire who specialising in gynaecological cancers will be attending a major event in Huddersfield today.

The event at the Briar Court Hotel, Birchencliffe, is organised by specialist nurse Pat Marsden of the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of the Yorkshire Gynaecology Oncology Specialist Nursing Group. It will focus on new medical developments and best practice and allows nurses to share ideas across the network.

The guest speaker at the event will be Hilary Blackburn, from the My New Hair charity, set up by celebrity hairdresser Trevor Sorbie.

Ms Marsden, said: "Care and treatment for patients is forever improving so this event is very important to nurses across our region."

She set up the award-winning daylight support group for patients in Halifax and Huddersfield so they meet and share experiences and provide support.
