Cancer sufferer's plea to ex-colleagues

A FORMER worker at a Hull factory which made asbestos-lined fire doors is appealing for help from former colleagues after contracting cancer.

Clive Cunningham, 70, worked as a forklift driver transporting asbestos sheets round the W Marsden & Co factory on Leeds Road, Hull, in the 1960s and 1970s.

Mr Cunningham has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, an industrial disease linked with asbestos.

He said: "Being diagnosed with mesothelioma has been devastating and has greatly affected my quality of life.

"Before my condition developed, I used to go and see Hull City play every week, now I struggle to do this or take part in many of the activities I used to."

Ian Toft, an industrial illness specialist at law firm Irwin Mitchell, is acting on behalf of Mr Cunningham.
