Captain England's message to Capello

Fabio Capello has been sent a special World Cup message - from Captain England, a soldier from a Yorkshire-based regiment.

Captain Gary England sent a message of good luck to the team in South Africa in York on Thursday.

Addressing various television cameras at Imphal Barracks in the city, he said: "I'm Captain England and I've got a message for the captain of England on behalf of The Yorkshire Regiment."

Then around 50 soldiers lifted aloft their regimental caps and started a deafening chant of "Come on England! Come on England! Come on England!" while holding tightly on to a banner, in the team's colours, emblazoned with the same words.

Around 600 soldiers from The Yorkshire Regiment were at the barracks taking part in a dress rehearsal for the presentation of new Colours by the Duke of York on Friday.

They have so far spent 56 hours, excluding three hours in the sweltering sunshine on Thursday, going through the drills so they do not put a foot wrong on the big day.

After all their hard work comes to fruition tomorrow, they are sure to be looking forward to relaxing and supporting England in their match against Algeria.
