Pc Wayne Heslop, of BTP, said: “The victim boarded the 1.42pm Doncaster to Manchester Airport service with his wife at Doncaster station and placed his luggage, which included a laptop and all his possessions for a two-week holiday, in the luggage racks of the train.

“As he checked his luggage at Sheffield station, he noticed that his bag had been taken.”

Officers have spoken to passengers on the train, downloaded hours of CCTV and circulated images on police intelligence systems.

Pc Heslop said: “We have seized very clear CCTV images and I’d ask anyone who may know recognise the woman to come forward and help police with this investigation.”
