Car sharing scheme is just the ticket

PEOPLE in Kirklees are being encouraged to help the environment and join a car share scheme.

The scheme also helps the environment by reducing congestion, car emissions and pollution.

The current car share now has 400 members.

People don't even need a car to join the scheme because many drivers are willing to do the driving in return for a contribution to their fuel and parking costs, and some company on the journey. Anyone who signs up during national Liftshare Week from October 4 to 8 will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win the use of a hospitality box for up to 10 people to watch Huddersfield Town v Plymouth Argyle on Saturday January 8, which has been donated by Kirklees Stadium Development Ltd, who are active supporters of car share.

Coun David Sheard, cabinet member for environment and transportation, said: "Sharing car journeys is such a simple idea but it's so much better for the environment, our stress levels and our pockets and cuts congestion."
