Care home firm opens new premises

HUNDREDS of jobs are set to be created by the expansion of a care home firm that runs premises across Yorkshire and the North East.

The revelation comes as Ladhar Group Care Homes, which has changed its name to Crown Care, opens a new home in Penistone, Barnsley, today.

The home, called “The Buckingham” will accommodate 72 people in a main building, plus 15 more in an “intermediate care unit”.

Crown Care also runs homes in Barnsley, Doncaster, Mexborough and Hoyland, and has planning permission to open two more in Selby and Knottingley.

The firm announced yesterday that it is looking for more sites in the region and hopes to expand across the country.

Such growth, a spokesman said, is expected to create about 350 jobs.

Ladhar Group chief executive Baldev Ladhar said: “We are proud of the service we provide at our existing homes but we are now in a position to expand significantly.

“The number of staff roughly equates to the number of beds in each home and so we are also delighted in these difficult economic times to be creating more than 300 jobs.”
