Cash for projects invitation goes out

A FUNDING pot of thousands of pounds is available for community groups and projects.

Leeds Federated Housing Association has £9,000 still to award from its Resident Amenity Fund, and community groups or individuals have until February 27 to apply for a portion of up to £2,000.

A new 2012/13 fund will be open from April 1, with a further £15,000 available.

It will be the third year Leeds Fed, which owns and manages 4,000 homes across Leeds, Wakefield and Harrogate, has put money into the fund and so far it has supported many local projects including community gardens, a martial arts group, community centres and a community radio station.

The fund is open to all residents, not just Leeds Fed’s tenants, as long as applicants can show that the project will benefit the housing association’s tenants and the communities in which they live.

Tenant Board member Sue Howlett said: “This funding is here to support local initiatives that will help build strong, sustainable communities.
