Cast ready for opening night

PREPARATIONS are being finalised for the launch of Doncaster’s new performance venue, which opens its doors for the first time on Friday, September 6.

The first show at Cast, in the town’s Civic and Cultural Quarter, will be The Glee Club, described as a “song-filled comedy and a cracker of a play charting the lives and heartaches of a group of miners from Edlington”.

A spokesman for Cast said: “For our first production we wanted to make sure we had something that was unique to Doncaster, was full of fun and laughter, and that added to the celebratory party atmosphere of our opening. We believe we’ve found this in The Glee Club.”

From 6pm that night there will also be launch events outside the venue, in Sir Nigel Gresley Square.
