The 500-acre parkland, which also surrounds the 18th century Stainborough Castle, features formal gardens, nature trails, adventure playgrounds and herds of deer.

A long-term restoration programme aims to return many of the park’s buildings and monuments to their former glory, with the latest project being the repair of Wentworth Castle’s East Ha-Ha this summer.

Future restoration plans include the Victorian Conservatory, the Kitchen Garden and the Serpentine Lake.

Several family events have been planned before Halloween, starting on October 22.
