The Sheffield Castle Revealed exhibition, which runs from Saturday to May next year, will include objects and images from the early 20th century excavations of the site of the medieval structure, which once stood where the Castle Market is now on Exchange Street.

The new display at Weston Park will bring together artefacts unearthed at the castle site including cannonballs, keys, coins and tokens excavated by Albert Leslie Armstrong between 1927 and 1929 during the construction of the original Castle Hill Market. The display will also feature knives, clay pipes and leather shoe soles found in the 1950s by Leslie Butcher as the markets were being rebuilt following the Sheffield Blitz of 1940.
