Catch of the day

Scarborough restaurateur Giorgio Alessio landed the catch of the day at his local fish market – a shark which tipped the scales at 65 kilos – or just over 10 stone – and measured more than two metres in length from top to tail.

It was landed by Scarborough boat Independence and Mr Alessio, who runs The Lanterna Restaurant in Queen Street, bought the whole thing to serve up. He aimed to provide the mouthwatering taste of the mediterranean as Scarborough's summer warmed up. Picture: Tony Bartholomew.
