Cathedral funeral for ‘Jesus Man’

THE Funeral of a man fondly known as ‘Bradford Jesus Man’ will be held at Bradford Cathedral next week.

Geoffrey Brindley died at the age of 88 in August.

He was known to thousands by the moniker, inspired by the monk-like robes he wore while walking the streets of Bradford, Leeds, Keighley and Halifax.

Mr Brindley’s funeral will be held at Bradford Cathedral, where a book of condolence was opened following his death, at 1pm on Tuesday.

Rev Sandra Benham, incumbent of St John’s Church in Baildon, where Mr Brindley lived, will lead the service.

The cathedral’s Canon Mandy Coutts will welcome mourners.

Mr Brindley’s lifestyle was apparently inspired by having spent several days living alone in a cave in the Yorkshire Dales. He died following a fall at his home.
