Cathedral reveals new image for 21st century

An historic North Yorkshire cathedral is being rebranded for the 21st century with the unveiling of a new logo and website. Staff at Ripon Cathedral – parts of which date back to the seventh century, making it one of the oldest cathedrals in the UK – have now completed more than a year's work.

The logo, which is inspired by the halo behind Jesus Christ's head in the Cathedral's great east window, will be used on stationery, signage and promotional leaflets.

The Reverend Dr Nicholas Buxton, who worked on the project, said: 'We are delighted with the logo. The building dates back to Saxon times but it is important to keep up to date with the modern age. It is a simple, clean design and it will help attract people to the Cathedral from the city and beyond.'

When it goes live, the website, which was was paid for by the Parochial Church Council, will also feature downloads and greater interactivity.
