Original Dad’s Army star Ian Lavender, who was filmed in Bridlington last week, is making a cameo appearance as an officer in the new film, which also stars Toby Jones, Bill Nighy, Michael Gambon, Mark Gatiss.

Meanwhile filming continues of the thriller The Hunter’s Prayer, starring Sam Worthington, which is being shot in Leeds, Harrogate, Helmsley, Scarborough and Saltaire. Worthington plays a solitary assassin hired to kill a teenaged girl. After developing a bond with his target, he comes to the realization he can’t carry out the task.

Tomorrow also sees the release in a live event from Los Angeles of the new David Hockney film.

The documentary promises an intimate account of the unconventional artist’s life and career, tracing the journey from his working class origins in Bradford to Hollywood. It goes out on general release on Friday.

Also filmed in Yorkshire - and London - is the festive comedy Get Santa, starring Jim Broadbent, which will be released in cinemas on December 5. Both Broadbent and Warwick Davis take leading roles in the tale about the quest to save Christmas after Santa gets put in jail.
