CCTV donation to fight bad behaviour

POLICE officers fighting anti-social behaviour in Doncaster have been given a new weapon after the town's social housing provider donated two portable CCTV cameras.

St. Leger Homes, the management organisation responsible for the town's council homes, bought the cameras with funds from its Estates Improvement Fund.

It includes a portable recording device with a highly sensitive camera that features a 76 times zoom capability – equal to a one kilometre range.

Frank Protheroe, chairman of the fund, said: "We had quite a few entries requesting funding for the DomeHawk cameras and I know that the first generation of the camera already in place has had an amazing success around the borough."

Insp Ray Mountford of South Yorkshire Police said: "The cameras are a vital asset in combating anti-social behaviour."
