The special one-off event on Sunday is one of several taking part across Yorkshire to mark Silver Sunday, a national day of celebration of the contribution of over 65s to society.

The Yorkshire Post teamed up with Silver Sunday as part of its award-winning Loneliness campaign, due its dual aim of stopping the blight of loneliness affecting so many older people.

After humble beginnings from a simple tea dance, Silver Sunday will include around 300 events including zumba classes, kurling and even world record attempts.

The event at the Dales Countryside Museum, in Hawes, is free to enter.

Elsewhere in the region, a tea dance will be held at the YMCA in Salendine Nook, Huddersfield, afternoon teas will be held at St Andrew’s Church in Netherton, Wakefield.

Zumba, 40s music and bingo are among the activities on offer at New Beginnings Christian Centre at Threeways Nursery Lane, Halifax.
