Celebrated pianist to help charities

A SOUTH Yorkshire-born pianist who has gone on to international acclaim is to play a special concert in the county next month to raise money for two charities.

Benjamin Frith won the UK National Piano Competition at 14 after being taught by the founder of the Leeds International Piano Competition, Dame Fanny Waterman.

He has gone on to become a successful concert pianist, making 17 solo records and has performed with many of the world’s great orchestras and conductors.

Mr Frith has agreed to play at a recital at Rotherham Arts Centre at 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 3. It is organised by the Rotherham Rotary Club to raise money for Rotherham Hospice’s Purple Butterfly Appeal and Rotary International’s polio appeal.
