Celebrating Yorkshire’s brightest young stars

THE brightest young stars from across the region were celebrated at the Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards in Leeds last night with Cody Hartley and Rosie King among the worthy winners.

Determined fundraiser Cody, of Thorpe, near Leeds, who is just 11, picked up the Youngster of the Year award for her tireless efforts to get a defibrillator installed in every school in the country.

Rising film maker Rosie, 15, from Horbury, Wakefield, took home the Achievement in Education award for raising awareness of autism. The awards, held at Leeds United’s Centenary Pavilion, highlighted under 35s and were organised by the Yorkshire Young Achievers’ Foundation. Other winners included radio presenter Liz Green, and Yorkshire and England cricketer Joe Root, 22, of Sheffield.
