Celebrity sighting at Harrogate bar-restaurant!

Celebrity sighting in Harrogate alert! A reader has got in touch to say they are sure they saw BAFTA-nominated actor Rufus Sewell and ex-Dr Who star Karen Gillan in a Harrogate restaurant.

It's not that far-fetched. This Harrogate Advertiser multi-media reporter saw Gabriel Byrne in Harrogate town centre last autumn.

I know it was him because I had a chat about his film shoot in Bradford which had brought him to the area.

The reader said Rufus and Karen were in the Yorkshire Meatball Co enjoying craft beer and a selection of tasty meatballs (what else!) on Station Parade bridge but we reckon it wasn't Karen, the former sidekick of former Doctor Who Matt Smith.

Instead we believe it was current Doctor Who Peter Capaldi's co-star Jenna Coleman that was spotted in this indie Harrogate restaurant and craft beer bar.

The reason? Rufus, who has starred as an Italian detective in the BBC's television series Zen and is currently in Amazon's hit show The Man In The High Castle, has been up at Castle Howard filming ITV’s major new drama series Victoria.

Rufus, whose movie credits include Kenneth Branagh's rendition of Hamlet, A Knight's Tale, The Illusionist, The Legend of Zorro and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Rufus is playing Lord Melbourne, Victoria’s first prime minister. while Jenna, whose CV includes Doctor Who, Death Comes to Pemberley and Dancing on the Edge, plays Queen Victoria herself.
