Centres offer hope over hate crimes

HATE crime victims will find it easier to get help in North Yorkshire with 15 specialist centres now up and running.

Anyone suffering abuse, bullying, violence or vandalism due to race, religion, gender, disability, age or sexuality can report offences and obtain support without going to police stations.

Insp Tim Hutchinson said: “No-one should suffer because they are different – because they have a different colour skin, a disability, different sexuality or beliefs.”

Incidents can be reported at libraries in Helmsley, Kirkymoorside, Malton, Norton, and Pickering, the Atmosphere Youth Hub in Pickering, Central Ryedale Children’s Centre, Northern Ryedale Children’s Centre, Ryedale Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Ryedale Council, Ryedale Housing Association, Ryedale Special Families, Ryedale Tenancy Support Service (Stonham), Ryedale Voluntary Action, and Wilf Ward Family Trust.
