Chalet owner's challenge dismissed by Court of Appeal judges
Alan Coates, the leading light of the fight to keep homes on Lakeminster Park, near Beverley, tried to overturn two rulings by a High Court judge in 2015.
But Lord Justice Sales, sitting with Lady Justice Gloster and Lord Justice Burnett, dismissed the appeals against Communities Secretary Sajid Javid and East Riding Council.

Two inquiries by separate inspectors, in 2013 and 2014, upheld council enforcement notices. Mr Coates and Lakeminster Park Ltd sought to quash the second inspector’s decision, but their claims were dismissed by Judge Pelling QC in 2015.
In his judgment Lord Justice Sales said the Judge was “was clearly right in these circumstances to proceed to refuse an adjournment and to strike out the claim.”
This evening East Riding Council said they would continue enforcement action against siteowner Lakeminster Park Ltd.
