Chalet park expansion is approved

COUNCILLORS have agreed to back the expansion of an East Coast chalet park – despite objections from another authority.

The Golden Imp Chalet Park, on Cliff Road, Hornsea sought permission for seven extra chalets – increasing the number of units on the park by a quarter.

Hornsea Town Council, which believes the site is being overdeveloped, objected to the loss of open space.

However planners say more chalets will boost the owner's income and help the local economy. The site had lapsed planning permission for six larger units.

The plan was approved by East Riding Council's eastern area planning sub committee.

At the same meeting, it refused proposals to build two 20m high wind turbines at Wallis Grange Farm, Kiplingcotes, on Etton Wold.

Etton Parish Council said the turbines would spoil an area of outstanding natural beauty and affect Kiplingcotes Racecourse, where reported the country's oldest flat race has been run since 1514.

In a report, planners insisted that a farm worker's cottage nearby should not be subject to "unacceptable" noise levels.
