Champions of
patient care to
hold meeting

THE first public meeting of the committee of a new independent national patient champion will take place in Yorkshire today.

Healthwatch England will lead a new network launching in April under the Government’s controversial NHS reforms which will give patients a voice in health and social care services.

Today’s meeting will be held at Leeds Metropolitan University. Over 150 local Healthwatch organisations will be set up, accountable to local councils, which replace Local Involvement Networks (LINKs).

Anna Bradley, chairman of Healthwatch England, said: “I think we have a great opportunity to give consumers a voice at national level, building on what is said at local level.”
