Chance to net home truths on crime

AN interactive house has been launched by West Yorkshire Police on the internet offering tips on how to guard against thieves.

People are being invited to visit a website and click on the various parts of the house to get crime prevention advice and helpful tips about securing properties against burglars.

The interactive house was originally developed by the Government’s Planning Portal to provide guidance on planning and building control policy but it has now been adapted for crime prevention use with advice supplied by West Yorkshire Police.

Chris Joyce, West Yorkshire Force Crime Reduction Officer said last night: “It’s extremely important that we do all we can to reduce the opportunity for crime to occur and we hope that the advice provided via the interactive house will assist members of the public to secure their homes further.

“Improving security around your home doesn’t necessarily have to cost a fortune, it can be the simple things that only take a few minutes of your time that prevents crime from taking place.”
