the council, or work they do for the local community or charities – by nominating their favourite council worker for the Citizen Award.

Joanne Roney, chief executive of the council, said: "The Pride Awards are a great opportunity for us to say thank you to our employees for all their hard work and recognise members of staff who have gone above and beyond.

"We are asking the public again to take an active part in the awards by nominating a council employee or team who they believe has made an outstanding contribution to their community.

"If you know a team or individual who gives great customer service and really makes a difference, please let us know."

Residents will then have the chance to vote for the winner of the Citizen Award from the shortlisted candidates.

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on Friday, April 30.

Last year's winners of the Citizen Award were Molly Bromby and Shirley Lewis, lunchtime supervisors at Lee Brigg Infant School.

They were presented with their prize by Claire Young, runner up in Sir Alan Sugar's The Apprentice, who hosted the ceremony.
