Chance to toast pub’s centenary

PUNTERS at a Leeds pub are invited to raise a glass to celebrate the venue’s 100th birthday.

A week-long festival has been organised to mark the centenary of The Wrens Hotel in Leeds city centre.

The celebrations run from tomorrow and will include wine tasting, acoustic nights, quizzes and ‘Meet the Brewer’ evenings as well as the chance to sample 16 Yorkshire ales.

Manager Andrew Richardson, above, sourced the range of local and national cask ales, including their own celebratory ale – The Wrens Centenary Blonde.

Mr Richardson said: “We wanted to create an event that would celebrate the pub’s centenary year and there is no better way than a beer festival.

“It’s a real opportunity to bring the community together.”
