Charges over 'illegalwaste exports'

Nine people have been charged over the alleged illegal export of old electrical goods to west Africa, the Environment Agency said.

They have been charged with offences under rules on the shipment of waste, following a two-year investigation and bailed to appear at Havering Magistrates’ Court, London, next month.

Broken electrical goods, including mobiles, smart phones, laptops and TVs cannot be shipped abroad for dumping.
