Charity boss leads skydivers in £5,000 boost for new unit

Mr Reynolds was among a group of fifteen people who took part in the tandem skydive for Sheffield Hospitals Charity which aims to improve facilities for patients at all of the city’s hospitals.

The group have managed to raise nearly £5,000, the bulk of the which will be allocated to the Sheffield Cystic Fibrosis Appeal.

The appeal was started in November last year to raise £1m towards the development of a new treatment unit for young adults that suffer with the condition in South Yorkshire and beyond.

The unit, which is the only one of its kind in the UK, will help patients feel more at home in their own specially designed bedrooms, when spending several weeks in hospital receiving treatment to maintain their health.

The target for the Appeal has nearly been reached with only £78,000 still left to find.

Mr Reynolds said: “I am grateful to everyone for making the commitment to do the jump. Having personally taken part, I know just how nerve wracking the experience was.

“I also want to thank everyone for their donations, the money will make a real difference to the lives of patients in the South Yorkshire region who will use the new ward.”
