Charles visits Lakes flood victims

The Prince of Wales showed his support for the victims of the November floods in Cumbria with a tour of the region.

Windermere was his first port of call, where water levels rose by more than 7ft (2.1m) in just 48 hours last year due to heavy rain. Charles became the first person to visit the newly reopened Wateredge Inn on the shores of the lake in Ambleside.

Most of the ground floor of the hotel was flooded, with water levels reaching 4ft (1.2m) in some of the 23 rooms.

Charles then boarded the Queen of The Lake cruiser, where he held private talks with officials from Cumbria Tourism.
