A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are unable to interview the 29-year-old woman arrested at the scene as she has been admitted to a secure psychiatric unit for assessment and treatment for a mental illness."

Police said on Sunday that the results of the post-mortem examination were inconclusive and a further detailed forensic examination would now take place.

Earlier, the force said detectives were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.

Neighbours said officers broke down the front door of the property following a request by healthcare workers to gain access.

One neighbour said she believed the tragedy stemmed from a dispute with social services.

Janine Barraclough, 36, said social services threatened to take the child away about a month ago and then returned on Friday.

"They said they were going to take her kid away and they came round banging and kicking on the door," she said.

Ms Barraclough described the girl as "beautiful with mousy brown hair and blue eyes".
