Children with the whole world in their hands

A poignant play which portrays the tragic consequences of carrying knives was staged at the Royal Armouries in Leeds yesterday as the museum launched a new booklet, Staying Safe.

West Yorkshire Playhouse Touring Company, in conjunction with the museum, has started presenting The Worm Collector to selected primary schools and takes up week-long residencies in secondary schools in the spring.

Actor Nathan McMullen, right, made a multimedia presentation at the launch event. He is pictured with Alifa Rahman, 14, and Ryan Illingworth, 13, from Hanson School, Bradford. Royal Armouries weapons awareness project co-ordinator Mark Cooper said: "We have made significant progress but we're never complacent."
