Children’s 3D efforts add an extra dimension to art show

Models of well–known landmarks will be shown at a special exhibition at St Mary’s Church in Thirsk this month.

Made by children The Thoughts of Thirsk Exhibition will be open daily until Saturday from 10am–4pm. The exhibition will feature work by gifted pupils from 10 local schools.

Jane Grainger, the artist who has worked with the children said: “Each group of pupils was asked to choose a place or building of interest from the Thirsk area and to create a work of art based on that theme using a 60cm square piece of MDF board and a variety of craft materials including recycled card, paint, tissue paper, newspaper and glue.”

The schools taking part and the artwork produced are as follows: Thirsk Community Primary – 3D model of White Horse Cafe, Thirsk and 3D model of signposts of Thirsk shops; Knayton Primary – 3D model of Sutton Bank and the White Horse; South Kilvington Primary – 3D model of St. Mary’s Church, Thirsk; Sessay Primary – 3D model of Sessay Church; Carlton Miniott Primary– 3D model of Thirsk Racecourse; Alanbrooke Primary – 3D model of Thirsk Clock; Pickhill Primary – 3D model of the Ritz Cinema, Thirsk; Sowerby Primary– wall hanging of St Oswald’s Church; Sowerby Topcliffe Primary – 3D model of the bridge at Topcliffe; All Saints Primary – 3D model of their school in Sowerby.
