Children’s hospital appeals for runners to help by taking part in Jane’s 10k run

PEOPLE are being encouraged to sign up to Jane Tomlinson’s Leeds 10k and help improve the lives of children at the hospital where she worked.

The Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal is still looking for individuals and teams to take part in the fundraising event in Leeds on Sunday, June 19.

Sharon Edwards, fundraising co-ordinator for the Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal, said: “The event is a fantastic way to make new friends, perhaps get a little bit fitter and do your bit to carry on the marvellous fundraising example set by the late, great Jane Tomlinson by raising some cash.

People of every ability take part and you absolutely don’t need to be sporty to get involved. Feel free to run, jog or walk – whatever you prefer – and take as much time as you like during the event.

“Jane was a children’s radiographer at Leeds General Infirmary so knew only too well the help the hospital gives to sick children from right across the region. We are very proud to be continuing our involvement in this annual fundraising event, now in its fifth year.”

She added: “We’d like to banish plain walls and provide suitable artwork to bring pleasure to patients and their families. And then of course there’s the state-of-the-art medical equipment that every clinician would choose to work with if budgets allowed – we have a wish-list of extra items we want to buy.”

All hospital inpatient services for children in Leeds are now centralised in the new Leeds Children’s Hospital at Leeds General Infirmary.
